A few quick shots of the new wall sculptures, the lighting was not the best but it gives you an idea of what they are like. One more to finish and then I am going to move on to the next project. The Wolfden in Dwight, about 10kms from Algonquin Park is my place of peace in Ontario. I was there helping my friend Ben about a week ago and he took me out to find some Hemlock. Which I believe is one of Canada's oldest living trees. Well the Hemlock tree has this inner bark that is deep red or burgandy and if you search particular spots of a forest you will most likely find a blown down tree.

included with the placement of the bike cogs i used a few railway pins. i used a bit of pigmented beeswax on the pins to add a bit more texture and of course colour. i still can not believe this site that i found and went into, the surrounding area is a huge forest that is supposedly conservation old growth.

when i lived in toronto during last winter i happened to come across about 20-30 boxes of old books on the side of a curb. what else would one do then to rummage through all the boxes to what you could find. i ended up leaving with an arm full of book covers and this black book that had removable pages. what a great find, i could use this a sketch book and reuse the cover over and over again.

some of the driving force to my inspiration are hydro poles, not sure why. Mostly the wooden poles, the seem like they are the forest of our inner cities. Now that the weather has changed and the snow as started to fall our favorite rodents (squirrels) will take to their nests. In case you may miss them I've decided to keep up the squirrel cutouts and glue them in places for your viewing pleasure. Why do we throw out our mail like its compost. Shouldn't we think of reusing our envelopes, or is a nice crisp new envelope the only way to go. OK I admit I usually place my mail in the recycling bin or I find better ways to use my old mail in my work. Or in this case I ask people to save their old envelopes so that I can use them.
